Why get into media? I always aspired to do two things in my life: to tell stories and to become a leader who brought happiness and peace through my activities. Stories are the things media are made of and there is a great need for leaders who can help develop a mediascape in which public interest is in fact the highest currency. Film, television, open source platforms, online adhocracy, books, radio… how interesting and how important to fathom the power dynamics that shape the discourse. What a challenge to tell stories that make you wonder about new things instead of fixate yourself in a dogmatic truth. Stories are there to wonder&ponder… This is what got me thinking.
“The voice does the work of the Buddha”
While NATO top officials came together in Strassbourg this april, fivehundred organizations united in protest. Kyo is an item covering peace activism and what the protests against NATO warfare/nucleair weapons and power mismanaging signified. Instead of conforming to mainstream coverage of riots, KYO examines how people try to use their voice as an instrument for peace in a setting of institutionalized violence. How do you remain peaceful in a setting of police attacking you with teargas for thoughtcrime? How does faith empower your voice?
“Nichiren Buddhists on building indestructable happiness…”
Young Nichiren Buddhists share their belief and how their Buddhist practice is set in daily life. The butsudan is the cupboard which gives away you’re in the house of a Buddhist… but what does that mean? And how does it help you become indestructibly happy?
“Buddhist with daddy issues”
For the IBFF Chihiro wrote a short story about bridging the gap between a girl and her father. The story was animated and on the Bodhitv evening in De Balie it was presented with live narrating. How to appreciate a father you have never known… that is the question. The story is also online now at www.bodhitv.nl
“If life is a journey and death our final destination… Why do we travel so fast?”
A documentary about the inner conflict concerning pollution. Through the eyes of a lung specialist, a pilot and a man who flies across the earth for developing green technology, we see how people “have a nice flight”.
